RFK Jr's nomination hits roadblock over financial disclosures: report
Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s HHS Confirmation Hangs in the Balance
Financial Scrutiny Delays Hearings
President Trump's nomination of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for Health and Human Services Secretary faces a setback as his financial disclosures undergo further review by the Office of Government Ethics.
"Traditionally, Senators hold off scheduling confirmation hearings until this process is complete," reports The Washington Post, pushing Kennedy's appearance before the Senate to late January at the earliest.
Heightened Scrutiny and Opposition
The delay provides Senators, such as Elizabeth Warren, an opportunity to amplify their objections. Warren raised concerns about Kennedy's "dangerous views on vaccine safety" and "inconsistent statements" on reproductive rights.
"Your baseless opposition to vaccines and inconsistent statements raise serious doubts," wrote Warren in a letter to Kennedy.
"The holdup could amplify the spotlight on his record, scrutiny that has increased in recent weeks."
Independent Outsider with Trump's Support
Kennedy, a former Democratic presidential candidate, joined Trump's camp after dropping out of the race. His outspoken nature has earned him the spotlight, and he envisions a "Make America Healthy Again" agenda at HHS.
Other Nominees Progress Amid Pending Confirmation
While Kennedy awaits his hearing, other Trump appointees, including Pete Hegseth and Pam Bondi, have testified before Senate committees. Kennedy remains one of a few nominees, including Tulsi Gabbard and Kash Patel, who have yet to face confirmation.
