Over 700 Protests Are Reportedly Planned Nationwide for Trump’s Inauguration Day
National Protests Unite Against Inauguration
Mobilization of Grassroots Resistance
As Inauguration Day approaches, an array of grassroots organizations across the nation are galvanizing under the banner of "We Fight Back 2025." Over 700 protests are anticipated nationwide on January 20th, with initial conveners including the People's Forum and the Palestinian Youth Movement.
"We will demand a future that prioritizes the people's needs over the interests of the wealthy elite," declared organizers from the People's Forum in a statement.
Miami Rises in Solidarity
In Miami, the local chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) spearheads the charge alongside partner organizations. "We aim to present a left-wing rebuke of Trump and his far-right agenda," stated Adam Medina, Miami DSA's external co-chair, emphasizing the movement's solidarity and broad support.
"This administration will threaten marginalized communities, including undocumented people, transgender individuals, and Gazans," Medina added. "Our protest is both a response to Trump and a call for systemic transformation."
Beyond Party Lines
Medina stressed the importance of avoiding false dichotomies between capitalist parties, highlighting the Democratic Party's complicity in certain policies. "Our alternative is not to vote Democrat but to empower working people to create their own alternatives for liberation," he explained.
"We challenge people to build stronger labor movements and foster collaboration between labor and socialist organizations," Medina said. "We must escalate strikes and protests as the Trump administration intensifies its harmful agenda."
"Join DSA to Effect Change"
Concluding with a call to action, Medina urged potential supporters to join DSA. "If you believe in positive change, we invite you to join us in the fight."
Quote from Adam Medina
"The fear of repression has magnified, especially for transgender comrades who fear the consequences of arrest. Dissent has reached a new high, with young people refusing to be complicit in the human rights violations of the past year." - Adam Medina
